"Dutch Bayonet 1885"
Dutch Bayonet 1885 without quillon
Pommel similar to the English 1888 model, rounded back to fit the shape of the barrel in order to improve attachment to the rifle.
Wooden plates fixed by 2 steel rivets. T-section blade with a counter-edge.
The blade is stamped: OE WG which is the STEYR trademark and which means "Österreichische Waffen Fabrik Ges".
Other punches on the other side.
Brown leather scabbard with scabbard holder and loop, all fixed by copper rivets and brass washers. .
The quillon having been declared inconvenient and useless in combat, the bayonets manufactured after the 1st war no longer have it.
The old models have had the quillon cut off.
Adapted for the Mannlicher Mle 1895 rifle
