Meissen porcelain figurine of a monkey as a singer (Affe als Sängerin) from the monkey orchestra. Model created by Johann Joachim Kaendler in 1753 and revised in 1765 with Peter Reinicke. Marked with the crossed blue swords and numbered 60014. Listed in the Meissen - Bergmann catalogue The Monkey Orchestra in Court Dress is one of the most amusing and original Meissen ensembles signed by Kaendler. The orchestra consists of twenty-one monkeys dressed in magnificent rococo costumes, each singing or playing a different instrument.
