Juan Almagro (Pegalajar 1886-Jaén, 1965) is a Spanish painter who began his training in Jaén, winning prizes and receiving a pension from the Diputación Provincial to continue his studies in Madrid (Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving). In the capital, he was a student of Muñoz Degrain, who also distinguished him. In addition to caricatures, he is also known for his landscapes, posters, works on the theme of bullfighting, still lifes, portraits, etc. After the Civil War, he restored and decorated churches. His work is preserved in private collections and in institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts of Jaén or the Provincial Council of Jaén. -
