The original gilding is in exceptional condition. On the score is written "Air du troubadour"
The movement, with thread, is original and requires a revision, the last dating back about twenty years.
The dial is signed Gentilhomme Palais Royal. This signature is particularly interesting since it is that of one of the very rare clockmakers of the early 19th century. Louise Admirat (1759-1829) married the goldsmith merchant Jean François Gentilhomme installed at 71-75 Palais Royal where she practiced her art until 1820.
The so-called "Troubadour" period is an artistic movement that appeared in reaction to the neoclassical style then to the Empire style. It is one of the components of Romanticism.
This clock is therefore one of the very first of this period. It was created between 1815 and 1820.
