"Venancio Blanco - Bronze Bull Sculpture"
After a hegemonic period of abstraction in art, at the beginning of the 20th century, a new movement emerged under the name of neofigurative, marking the return of the human and animal figure, but with a powerful existentialist component. In this approach, art seeks to express what one feels from the depths of one's being. In this impressive sculpture by Venancio Blanco, entitled "The Watching Bull", a work in cast bronze on a dark marble base, dating from the 1970s, is presented. It represents the silhouette of a bull with an imposing horn, merging an expressionist style with facets specific to cubism. The cubist influence is as palpable as the expressionist, creating a figure that, far from being limited to its physical representation, is imbued with a great subjective charge. The viewer's gaze is captured by its presence, while its lines, serenity and solidity make this work one of the author's most successful. This is a unique piece, signed by Venancio on the left side.
