From a series of tapestries on the subject of the History of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra.
The scene represented is the flight of Cleopatra from Egypt to Rome on a boat led by her vassal Apollodorus,
(the continuation of these very famous events by the seduction of Cleopatra hidden in a carpet then the idyll with Caesar allowing her to reconquer her throne usurped by her brother Ptolemy ....).
