Tray on a foot in carved and black lacquered wood with feather decorations in gold and silver makie lacquer. Japanese family crest and arabesques on the foot. The decorations are of very beautiful workmanship. This type of tray is traditionally used in Japan for the presentation of mochis on New Year's Day. Very designer piece with its unconventional shape and minimalist decoration. Can be used as a fruit bowl. for the presentation of fruit. Japan, circa 1960, 29.5 x 25.5 cm.
