"Three 14th Century Pavement Tiles"
These are the first encaustic tiles made in Flanders (Belgium). The original 14th century floor with such tiles is still present in the old church of Wenduine (Belgium). Specimens were also found during excavations at the abbey of the ter dunes in Koksijde. Dimensions: 6x6, 5.7x5.7 and 5.3x5.3 cm. The tiles are in very good condition and NOT restored.
They Belong to the first multi colored floor tiles of the medieval period. The earliest floor tiles are small in seize. It makes them very charming!
