"Lorgnette Decor Vernis Martin Black And Gold, Early 19th Century"

This delightful six-fold brass opera glass is decorated with a rotating decoration in gold Martin varnish on a black background, representing a winged muse holding a large dog, a cherub and a basket of flowers and fruit in a natural landscape.
The decoration is highlighted by two brass friezes stamped with stars. In its original hinged case with push button. The case is made of wood covered in red paper with a morocco leather effect lined with light velvet.

Please note: Restorations to the decoration. Upper lens replaced.
Good condition, Directoire period around 1800.
