"Ribbank. Flanders. Seventeenth Century."
Oak sideboard or ribbank. Opening with a flap, large drawer and two doors, this sideboard has two bodies without recess including a flap and drawer finely carved with plant motifs at the top, the lower part with two leaves decorated with an abundant network of geometric moldings framing lion muzzles; the uprights are carved with feathers and "tortoiseshell"; the sides are divided into four panels. In very good original condition, minimal but delicate restorations will soon be carried out, in particular on part of the top, the sculpture of the drawer handle, the side moldings covering the lower part, the feet and a lock. Beautiful ribbank said to be late Renaissance illustrating the mastery of our Flemish craftsmen in the seventeenth century, here particularly thanks to the fine sculpture. Northern France. Around 1650.
