Portrait of a sumptuously dressed nobleman from the Louis XIV period. Early 18th century.
The portrait is of excellent quality. Note the folds of the jerkin, suggested by only a few brushstrokes but which allow the fabric decoration to shine through, the gold thread embroidery of the doublet, and the woven lace cravat, all handled with great finesse.Very realistic, the representation of the face with a beautiful expression is also of great mastery.
Oil on canvas mounted on wood, with minor old restorations. A beautiful carved wooden frame in very good condition, from the Louis XIV-Régence period. Its dimensions: 62cm x 72cm (including frame) and 46cm x 55cm (excluding frame).
