"Fish Rostrum Miniature Saw Base Early 20th Century"
It was a juvenile that got caught in the fisherman's nets a long time ago... We can imagine that it still had baby teeth... Like needles, 46 of them, they measure only a few millimeters. Miniature rostrum on its old wooden base Long considered one of the central pieces of a cabinet of marine curiosities, the rostrum of this giant ray, today particularly rare and protected, is a real treasure. All species of sawfish have been classified in Appendix I of CITES since 13/09/2007 and A of the EU since 11/04/2008. This rare specimen dates from before the Washington Convention. Height of base 28 cm n excluding base 19cm x 3.5 cm.
