Object description :

"Victor Vasarely (1906 - 1997) Large Serigraph Signed And Numbered"
Large original screenprint signed in pencil by the artist Victor Vasarely and numbered 72/340 justified on the back by the stamp of Studio Bruckmann 1974 entitled "Sin Hat A" from the series "Réponse a Vasarely" depicting a geometric composition in color forming a hexagon on a gold background, beautiful original frame model American box in gilded wood. Good general condition, dimensions: 70 cm X 63 cm Victor VASARELY (1906 - 1997) is a Franco-Hungarian artist considered to be at the origin of the Op Art movement or optical art, which Bridget Riley and Yaacov Agam will join. Vasarely's paintings and sculptures use geometric shapes and colorful graphics to create illusions of spatial depth on two-dimensional surfaces. This abstract method of painting, also known as kinetic art, borrowed from the principles of the Bauhaus, Wassily Kandinsky, and Constructivism, which would have a great impact on his work. Born Vásárhelyi Gyozo on April 9, 1906 in Pécs, Hungary, the artist first studied medicine, then turned to painting two years later. Vasarely attended the Hungarian branch of the Bauhaus (Muhely) in Budapest in the late 1920s. After moving to Paris in 1930, Vasarely worked as a graphic artist and developed his practice of geometric abstract art. He lived and worked in Paris until his death at the age of 90 on March 15, 1997. Although he initially studied medicine, Victor Vasarely quickly abandoned it to enroll in the Beaux-Arts. He studied in Budapest at the Mühely Academy. It was there that he discovered abstract art, where he was a student of Sandor Bortnyik. In 1930, he moved to Paris and worked as a graphic designer for advertising agencies. It was as part of his advertising work that he produced Zebra in 1937, a work considered one of the first in optical art. He then tried his hand at painting, a period he described as "false paths". He then turned to abstract pictorial work from 1947. Vasarely co-founded the Denise René gallery. In his production, he tried to play with the viewer's perception of space, using two-dimensional images that nevertheless seemed to come out of their frames. In 1976, Vasarely took a further step and inaugurated the Centre architectonique d'Aix en Provence, ten years after the inauguration of the Vasarely Foundation. The artist wanted to realize his ideal of a "polychrome city of happiness".
