"Lithograph By Henri Rivière Parisian Landscapes - Paris Seen From Montmartre"
This lithograph “Paysages Parisiens - Paris vu de Montmartre” is signed Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp at the bottom left. The work is authentic and old. For the condition, note in the margin small tears (0.2 to 0.5 cm) at the top, traces and folding marks, ink lines and dirt. On the lithograph, we note small brown and white spots (lack of color), a spot at the foot of the street lamp. The lithograph is very fresh in color, once framed most of the defects will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with intaglio engraving and specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he began a career as a director and scenographer, in 1886, of the shadow theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, shows that he improved by creating very innovative color sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving and established himself in the history of etching, printmaking, woodcut, lithography and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
