"The Young Lingerie Girl"
This young seamstress, caught in the act, hard at work, turns her head and looks attentively to the left. It is this pose that links our drawing to the circle of Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805), so famous for his profiles and expressive heads. The omnipresence of everyday life does not detract from the grace of the model, whose nicely shod right foot stands out above her thick dress. Details: - Red chalk. - Sold framed. - Some foxing. - Has an old label on the back (from the framer?).
