- Polychrome earthenware inkwell from the Sarreguemines earthenware factory with two cups, one cup for the ink, the other with a sprinkler cup for the powder to dry the ink. - Printed decoration of the Richard children and brown border on the inkwell on a cream background. - Signed in black under the underside of the inkwell with the stamp of the Sarreguemines earthenware factory in cursive writing, overprinted with the letters UC for Utzschneider&Compagnie. - This signature was used in the second half of the 19th century at the Sarreguemines earthenware factory. - Note the ink stain on the inside and outside of the ink cup and the inside of the inkwell and the border where the two cups are inserted and a moisture stain on the underside of the inkwell next to the Sarreguemines signature, see photo. - Antoine Albert Richard, known as Froment Richard, was born in Lyon on 06/09/1845 and died in Menton on 01/03/1921. - Froment Richard collaborated with the Sarreguemines earthenware factory and created the decor of the Richard children for the Sarreguemines earthenware factory around 1880. He also created the famous decor of the children of the Parisian service for the Creil and Montereau earthenware factory where he collaborated with this factory around 1875. - Period end of the 19th beginning of the 20th century around 1880-1910.
