"Bitong Bamboo Brush Pot Carved With Openwork Zitan Wood Lid. China Qing Dynasty"
Bamboo brush pot called Bitong. It is carved on the front with many figures of dignitaries and pagodas in a landscape with many trees. On the back, 3 smaller reserves with a Fenhuang (phoenix) at the top, a butterfly in the center and with two deer at the bottom. On the sides, two oval reserves with men in different activities. The openwork lid is made of zitan wood decorated with branches, flowers and leaves. Good used condition, with small shrinkage cracks and two small chips on the lid. China Qing Dynasty first half of the 19th century.
