Gustave POITVIN (1900-1999)

Superb silver-plated bronze sculpture in the Art Deco style and period, signed Gustave POITVIN , a sculptor renowned in particular for his radiator mascots for prestigious cars.

This work represents a naked woman-child, gracefully standing on tiptoe, holding bunches of flowers on her raised arms. She is partially draped in a magnificently stylized cape falling down her back, and sports a haircut typical of the 1920s.

The elegance of the lines, the finesse of the details and the quality of execution suggest that this could be an exceptional exhibition piece, intended to promote the artist's work at trade fairs or exhibitions...

The whole rests on an elegant square base in veined black marble, highlighting the sculpture and reinforcing its prestigious allure. Signed G. POITVIN: in the marble on the right side of the feet.

Condition: Good general condition, with slight wear on the silvering on the front which does not detract from its charm and a very small lack under the right rear of the base (see photos).
