"Appliqued Cup, Silver, Engraved, Paris, 1739"
Large silver tulip cup, resting on a pedestal molded with a frieze of oves, the body separated into two registers by a molded reed of fillets, with in the lower part alternating appliques of lambrequis and lanceoles on an amati background and in the upper part engravings of villages, foliage, quartefeuilles and waves. Paris 1739-1740. Master goldsmith Claude Charvet, received on March 21, 1724, privileged goldsmith of the Duke of Orleans. He died on October 17, 1751. Weight 186g - height 11.3cm - diameter 8.7cm. Condition, good, traces of use and wear. This cup is the work of a great goldsmith. There have been many fakes, very well done on the cups with appliques. This one is sincere and of beautiful craftsmanship. Rare object.
