Marine, oil on canvas signed Gaston Larrieu "The old port". Painter born in Eugénie-les-Bains in 1908, Gaston Larrieu frequented the studio of René-Marie Castaing in Pau (Grand Prix de Rome in 1924). The neo-cubist influence of his friend André Lhote is felt in his first paintings. In 1951, Max Vignon, an art critic passing through Eugénie-Les-Bains, noticed his paintings. He organized an exhibition for him in Paris which was a success. Various galleries in the capital exhibited him including the Charpentier and Romanet gallery.
