"Guy-roland Marcy (1925-1990s), Large Ridge Spike In Glazed Earth Forming An Owl."
Guy-Roland MARCY, ceramic artist born in 1925 and died in the 1990s. For more than forty years Guy-Roland created pieces with extraordinary demands. Listed among the ceramists of Puisaye stoneware in the famous region of Saint-Amand en Puisaye (Nièvre), Guy-Roland MARCY never stopped perfecting the quality of his enamels and his glazes, to give them a unique character that many enlightened amateurs are rediscovering today. This large ridge spike in glazed terracotta from the 1970s, whose glaze is reminiscent of stoneware, is a reflection of his talent. Decorated with a majestic owl, it has a sculptural character close to a totem pole that allows it to be highlighted in interiors with taste and sensitivity. A very rare piece in these large dimensions. A 30 cm high lamp base was sold for 1300 euros excluding fees in Montauban in November 2021. Presence of two artist's stamps.
