Jean-Adrien Mercier born in Angers trained with his father Maurice, talented glass painter.
He met the painter Armand Guillaumin in the 20s, alongside whom he produced gouaches in Creuse marked by the influence of the master.
Ours belongs to this period, and we can compare it to the one preserved by the City of Angers thanks to a donation from the artist's daughter, Sylvie (photo 6)
Painter, engraver and lithographer, Mercier had a rich career as an illustrator, poster artist and decorator.
