Object description :

"Glazed Terracotta Hare Gîte - Tableware Terrine 19th Century "
Red Earthenware Hare Gite, Western France, 19th Century

Charming red earthenware hare gite with an aubergine glaze on the outside with light beige streaks and white tin enamel on the inside.
Its slightly violin-shaped body gives a singular elegance to this utilitarian and decorative piece.
The finely modeled lid represents a lying hare, adding a naturalistic and rustic touch to the whole.

Typical of 19th century productions in Western France, this gite demonstrates the know-how of regional potters, combining functionality and aesthetics.

Note some small lacks of enamel on the inside as well as a few knocks under the base, without affecting the structure.

Dimensions:

Length: 29 cm
Width: 15.5 cm
Height: 14 cm
Condition: Good general condition despite the slight wear mentioned.

A beautiful collector's item for lovers of regional ceramics and popular objects.
