Signed.
Wall mirror whose embossed metal frame is decorated with an architectural composition of a marked classicist taste and Italian reminiscences, flanked at the top by two entwined putti and at the bottom by two monstrous grotesques. The signature is under the head of one of these two mythological figures. The theme of children's figures or entwined putti has been common in art since the 17th century, but especially in the Rococo period, and continued to be used thereafter. Grotesques have been common since the Renaissance. -
