The Creusot crystal factory, originally created by Queen Marie Antoinette so that France could compete with imported English crystal. Originally the crystal factory installed in Sevrés was then transferred to Le Creusot for reasons of supply of materials (sand and especially coal which did not exist or in very small quantities in the Paris region. This crystal factory very famous for the quality, brilliance and weight of the crystal had its hours of glory especially in the 1800s. It was then bought by Saint Louis and Baccarat who transferred molds and some MO to their factories then eliminating a competitor whose quality was at least equal if not superior to their own productions. Of course no Creusot article was stamped but certain clues allow to attribute certain objects to the Creusot crystal factory
