A fine and rare early 18th century Chinese export desk (for the English market) on its original stand. With a black and gilt surface decorated in the Chinese taste with birds, flowers and foliage. A sloping lid with gilt bronze escutcheons which opens to reveal an interior fitted with nine small drawers and a lidded box. The backs of the interior drawers are decorated with calligraphic inscriptions. Scrolled and pieced gilt feet with cabriole legs. This fine piece of furniture also retains its original hinges and brass lock. Measures: 39-1/2 x 40 x 23 inches 100 cm x 101.5 cm x 58.5 cm Further images on request.
