Object description :

"Jean Daniel Ribeyrol (1918-2005 "la Vézère In Castel-merle" Watercolor."
This watercolor by Jean Daniel Ribeyrol (1918_2005), signed and located at the bottom left, shows us a view of the Castel-Merle site in the Vézère valley between Montignac and Les Eyzies. This famous archaeological site in the Vallée de l'Homme has many rock shelters in the cliff. The painter offers us a fairly synthetic composition with the bottom of the Vézère valley in the center and foreground, very bright, and darker surroundings with well-defined color ranges that characterize the technique of JDRibeyrol Jean Daniel Ribeyrol (1918-2005) is from Razac sur l'Isle, near Périgueux; He did his artistic apprenticeship at the Périgueux drawing school where he had Robert Dessales-Quentin and Julien Saraben as teachers, two confirmed Périgord artists. Having become a railway worker, he worked in Grenoble where he continued to practice his Art with rigor and passion; he participated in many exhibitions, then he left for Lyon in 1968, where he joined the Society of Fine Arts. In 1974, he retired and decided to return to settle in Périgueux, then in Razac, his hometown; he then devoted himself full time to his passion and proposed many landscapes of the Dordogne, in a cubist-inspired style with a compartmentalization of colors. He chaired the Society of Fine Arts of Périgueux from 1986 to 1990. It should be noted that an exhibition of his works was organized in Périgueux in 1988 and another in Razac sur L'isle in 2015.
