The four crosspieces are also finely carved with shells and arabesques on a punched background and each opens to four small "game storage" drawers.
The square top receives "ears" at the four corners which allowed candlesticks to be placed in order to light the top. This one is decorated with a Havana morocco highlighted with stars and gilded borders with small irons. Four removable "token tablets" slide under each of the "ears".
The balance and dynamism of the lines, the quality of the ornamental sculpture testify to the elegance of the beautiful bourgeois furniture of Lyon during the 18th century.
