Original frame in wood and gilded stucco (restored). Wear and tear, Frame dimensions: 55 x 66 cm.
Dimensions without frame: 28 x 39 cm. Signed. Titled on the back.
Oil on canvas mounted on panel. Label on the back of the Uccle Art Center Exhibition "L'estacade".
José Dierickx, known as Joseph Dierickx, born in Brussels in 1865, died in 1959, is a Belgian painter. He continued his artistic studies from 1881 to 1886 at the Brussels Academy where he was taught by Jean-François Portaels and Joseph Stallaert. He won first prizes there. He exhibited at several exhibitions including those of L'Essor from 1885. He received the Godecharle Prize in 1887 with a painting entitled The Resurrection of Lazarus. In 1892, he co-founded the Brussels artistic circle Pour l'Art. He taught at the Collège Saint-Michel and at the School of Decorative Arts in Ixelles. In 1966, the Uccle Cultural and Artistic Center dedicated a retrospective to him.
