"Carved Ivory Crucifix On Velvet Background, In A Carved Wooden Frame"
Large walnut frame carved with rocailles, cherub heads and Eucharistic symbols (vine branches and ears of wheat), housing a crucifix with Christ and the titulus crucis in carved ivory, resting on a wooden cross on a carmine velvet background. DIEPPE, circa 1850. Slight loss to the crown of thorns.
