Antique owl figure, carved in polychrome wood. Probably Burmese or Thai, late 19th century. The eye notches probably received two faceted mica stones. H 34 cm x W 9 cm x D 18 cm Provenance: Estate of the Asian art dealer and collector Claude de Marteau In Southeast Asia, owls are often associated with protection and good fortune.
