Louis XV Flat Desk, Stamped FF For François FLEURY, 18th Century Period. It opens on the front with 3 Drawers, each closing with a Key. It rests on slightly arched Feet, finished with closed Gilt Bronze Sabots. Its top is covered with New Chocolate-colored Leather gilded with small irons, surrounded by an Astragal with Spandrels in the Corners. It is Double-Sided, that is to say that it has the same lock entries on the visitors' front. It is in Very Good condition. It measures 103 cm in Length, 53 cm in Width and 73 cm in Height. It is stamped on the front upright: FF For François FLEURY: François FLEURY is a Parisian Cabinetmaker from the mid-18th century. Brother of Adrien, he practiced rue Traversières until the beginning of the reign of Louis XVI. Very little is known about the life and work of this cabinetmaker. It is believed that he took over his brother Adrien's workshop, rue Traversiére, and that he worked there until the beginning of the reign of Louis XVI. His stamp has been found on some good quality Louis XV furniture, with simple lines and richly decorated with bronze.
