JAPAN - Edo period (1603 - 1868). Complete samurai armor all in suite. KABUTO in wrought iron lacquered in shiny black. SHIKORO (neck cover) with five degrees in black lacquered iron and navy blue silk braiding (wear). MABI SA SHI (the visor) in wrought iron lacquered in shiny black. WAKIDATE and MAEDATE in gilded cut copper. MEMPO (samurai half-mask) in brown lacquered iron, pronounced chin, mobile nose, pierced nostrils, visible teeth, very large white horsehair moustache, red lacquered interior, sweat hole under the chin (very slight losses). YODARE-KAKE (gorget) with four degrees in shiny black lacquered iron and blue silk braiding. SODE (shoulder guards) with seven degrees in black lacquered metal and blue silk braiding. DO (breastplate) with eight lamellae in black lacquered iron and blue silk braiding, decorated with the mon of the MORI clan. KOTE (arm guards) in chainmail and shiny black lacquered iron plates. KUSAZURI (skirt) and HAIDATE (cuissards) with five rows in shiny black lacquered metal and blue silk. SUNEATE (greaves) in shiny black lacquered iron plates, chainmail, leather and fabric. It sports, on two bamboo rods, a fabric banner stamped with the mon of the KUKI clan. Fairly good general condition, slight losses to the lacquer, oxidation and wear to the braiding. Additional photos and details on request. Sold with its GUSOKU BITSU (transport chests) in lacquered wood (losses) and metal reinforcements (oxidation) and with its presentation stand. Dimensions of the armor in sitting position (without the standard): 141 x 56 x 55 cm.
