It dates from the first half of the 19th century -- around 1800/1820 -- and comes from the Volga region of Russia.
This iconographic subject represents the mystery of the Holy Trinity, the triple incarnation of the one God: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are inseparable in their essence but appear here separately, represented by three angels. In the foreground, Abraham and his wife Sarah offer food to the three angels seated at the table while a servant slaughters a lamb.
This icon is delicately painted in tempera in rich and warm tones on a wooden panel. The angels' wings, halos and clothes are richly gilded.
Very good original condition. Some cracks, wear and small repaints on the edges.
This collector's item is sold with its certificate of authenticity and a complete description of the work.
