Used in Antiquity to preserve perfumed oils, balms and ointments, this type of container was an essential element of Roman care rituals and funerary practices. Its small size and elegant silhouette testify to the refinement of Roman glassmaking, the art of production of which was perfected in the workshops of the Eastern Mediterranean.
