Multi-layer Glass Vase Signed Daum Nancy 20th Century

This vase by Daum Nancy, dating from the 20th century, belongs to the Art Nouveau movement and illustrates the expertise of Lorraine crystal. Made of multi-layer glass, it presents a gradation of colors, from green to frosted translucent, evoking a natural effect frozen in time. The floral decoration, representing thistles in relief, is obtained using the acid etching technique, giving the surface of the glass a particular texture.

The chiseled details are then highlighted by hand-applied gold highlights, accentuating the patterns and their contrast with the background. The slightly irregular appearance of the shape, characteristic of Daum productions, bears witness to the artisanal glasswork, where each piece is unique.
