Kontani Eigi, 1908-1973, sculptor and metallurgist, born in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Graduated from Takaoka Technical School and Tokyo School of Fine Arts, sculpture department. Received more than 10 awards at the Salon (Nitten) and Imperial Salon.He participated in the 1939 New York World's Fair. In 1959 he created the Sokei-kai salon, and stopped exhibiting in other salons.
He specialized in the representation of Noh theater. The Takaoka Museum preserves two works.
