Large and rare copperplate engraving, on thick paper, from the work Grandes routes d'Angleterre, d'Ecosse et d'Irlande (G. Robert de Vaugondy, 1757, in Paris). after Abraham Wolfgangk (1634 – 1694) Printer-bookseller in Amsterdam, dedicated to the great bibliographer Cornelius van Beughem1 (circa 1639 – 1710).

Imposing double-entry table indicating the distances separating the different English cities.
At the top an engraved cartouche representing two hands holding measuring instruments, on the right a succession of crowned coats of arms supported by angels complete this plate.

1. Cornelius van (von) Beughem is the author of the first printed bibliography of incunabula in 1688. Of Prussian origin, he worked as a bookseller in Amsterdam before setting up his own shop (source: Breslauer & Folter). His work of compiled bibliographies was recognized during his lifetime and brought him great fame.
