GRANDGERARD – ETCHING – 20th CENTURY ENGRAVING – No. 50 Etching by Lucien Henri GRANDGÉRARD He was born in 1880 in Nancy, died in 1970 in Perreux sur marne. Rare original drypoint engraving Edition Numbered and countersigned in pencil There is also the red ink stamp Period 1920 - 1930 - 1940 which is the case in this superb engraving entitled No. 50 – La Baigneuse Edition No. 3 of 40 copies The dimensions are: The engraving is 17 x 24 cm The sheet is 25 x 32 cm In good used condition. From 1906, he exhibited every year at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he became a member of the Committee and the Jury. The Grand Prix du Portrait was awarded to him in 1933 and a Gold Medal recognized his talent the following year. After the war of 14-18, he traveled a lot in Northern Europe in Provence and Italy. He painted landscapes, many portraits and many works devoted to women, nymphs bathing, nudes on a landscape background and dancers. His engraved work is very important with etchings and drypoints. He obtained a Silver Medal in engraving at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1929 and a Gold Medal in 1932. Lived in New York during the Second World War with his wife, the artist Mrs. Lucienne Estival. He was a student of Mr. Bonnat, Mr. Jules Lefebvre and Mr. Luc Olivier Merson.
