a master glassmaker active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These Art Nouveau style vases are distinguished by a floral decoration enameled in relief, representing magnificent poppies with pink and white petals. The flowers are enhanced with delicate details that give them volume and realism. The foliage, a finely worked light green, contrasts harmoniously with the purple background of the glass. The flared neck is decorated with a geometric frieze composed of stylized motifs evoking set cabochons. These are represented in shades of red, green and gold, on a finely textured background in gold dots. Golden highlights enhance the whole, particularly in the form of elegant volutes running along the body of the vases and threads as well These vases perfectly illustrate the know-how of Legras, who excelled in the art of enameled glass. He mastered sophisticated techniques such as relief enamel, gilding and glass coloring, thus creating refined decorative pieces emblematic of the Art Nouveau movement.
Very slight chips on the neck of one and wear on the decoration.
