"chamonix, Taconnaz Glacier" Clovis Terraire

Clovis TERRAIRE was born in Marseille in 1858. He died in 1931. He settled in Lyon in 1879 and pursued his career as a painter and cellist at the Lyon Opera. He exhibited in Lyon and at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris from 1887. He owes his success to the many herds of cows that animate his paintings. It is in Dauphiné, Savoie and Haute-Savoie that he mainly set up his easel. Clovis Terraire appears in the "Bénézit" as well as in the book "La peinture lyonnaise au 19ème" by Elisabeth Hardouin-Fugier and Etienne Grafe. The painting is highlighted by a 1920 frame in patinated wood decorated with arabesques. The dimensions with the frame are 46 cm x 53.5 cm.
