Kayseri rug in hand-knotted wool, originally from Turkey in the Kayseri region.
This rug measures 170 cm wide by 236 cm long.
It has a large floral medallion decoration, echoing the style found on the sumptuous Iranian Tafresh rugs.
## Knotted around 1970, in perfect condition, velvet, fringes and selvedges.
The velvet of the Kayseri is always short and the inspiration for these rugs comes from old Persian rugs, particularly from Tabriz.
Surprisingly, in Tabriz, silk rugs are knotted that are influenced by Kayseri rugs.
These exchanges of designs are due to the commercial and cultural contacts and exchanges that these two cities have with each other. These exceptional rugs with delicate patterns are inspired by nature.
They are decorated with interlacing plants, in pastel shades often highlighted by midnight blue or cardinal red, our model.
Kayseri are found in all dimensions knotted in wool or silk.
