During the period 1887-1890, he settled in the charming village of Ohain and developed his own style. Subsequently, he worked a lot in the Tervuren region where he settled for a while. The Belgian coast and Holland also inspired him. At the time, his favorite subject became the animation of the streets and markets of large cities (Brussels, Paris, etc.), which led him to travel abroad. He rendered these scenes in a very personal style. At the beginning of the First World War, he left Belgium. During this exile which took him to France and Spain, his wife (Sylvia Marie Vloeberghen who was also a painter) died. He returned to Belgium in 1919 and settled in Ohain with his son. Unfortunately, he died of a stroke in the early 1920s, only a few months after this move.
