"Dani Warrior Adornment. New Guinea. Oceania "
This ornament once adorned the neck of a high-ranking member of the Dani tribe, who inhabited central New Guinea in the Baliem valley. It is made up of several hundred Nassa shells, meticulously sewn in a line on a weave of coloured plant fibres.
Given the age of the object, the whole is in remarkable condition, with only four shells missing.
