"The Barracks Game Board "
Game board of the shack, and its boxwood ball, certainly made in the 19th century. It is difficult to find complete information on this game which has fallen into disuse. It seems to have been played in the north of France, in Picardy, and it is considered an ancestor of roulette. It belongs to the category of games of chance. The rules are not very clear, certainly partially erased by the lack of regular practice. It is possible that the number of balls used is higher, depending on the number of players. The board presented is of remarkable quality, made of pieces of mahogany and solid rosewood, in order to resist the shocks of the ball. The numbers are engraved on mother-of-pearl tokens. The whole makes a sort of precious and slightly surrealist painting. Excellent original condition.
