"Trapani Three-body Earrings, With Carved Coral Cameos And Gold Filigree. Sicily, Mid-18th C."
Trapani Three-Body Earrings, With Carved Coral Cameos And Gold Filigree. Sicily, Mid-18th Century (stamped on the shank). This rare typology uses gold filigree that wraps refined Mediterranean coral cameos, depicting young women portrayed frontally. In the center, two love bows enclose two turquoises, to create a bright contrast to the coral. These objects, representative of the best Trapani culture, have been fiercely hoarded for years by Sicilian numismatic collectors and for this reason are difficult to sell on the antiques market. Object in good condition, with a small ancient restoration on the tip of a drop cameo.
