Weight: 1.925 kg. Biography Pierre Laplanche, born in Avignon in 1804 and died in ST Didier (Vaucluse) in 1882, is a French painter and sculptor. He is the son of a shoemaker. He is first a student of Pierre Raspay and then of Brian. In 1833, he was a drawing teacher at the Sainte-Garde seminary in the commune of Saint-Didier. He stayed in Paris from 1838 to 1840 where he lived miserably; he was rescued by the painter Auguste Bigand. He returned to settle permanently in Saint-Didier, returning to his position as a drawing teacher. He first painted landscapes and then the beggars who stopped at the religious institution. During his lifetime, he bequeathed more than a thousand drawings or watercolors to the Calvet Museum.
