An unusual roll-top desk, a writing desk characterized by a roll-top (or cylinder) opening upper part that conceals an interior compartment with drawers and compartments. The pull-out drawer-type top accompanies the movement of the roll-top, allowing the opening of the roll-top, revealing the central compartment and the four interior small drawers, as well as a secret compartment accessible by unlocking a hidden pin. The desk is presented with the elegant linearity of the Louis XVI period, entirely veneered in walnut and other precious wood essences, inlaid on all sides and with a still life composition in the center of the roll-top. This is a very particular piece of furniture datable to the last quarter of the 18th century, the area of origin identifiable between upper Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy. Dimensions: 132 x 68 H132 cm.
