"Large Cider Pitcher, Gien Earthenware, 19th Century."

This beautiful pitcher, in perfect condition, receives a Renaissance style decoration, hand painted. Chimeras, birds, fantastic animals accompany a medallion, on the front face. In the center, painted in 'grisaille', a cherub rides a fantastic marine animal. The medallion is surmounted by a crown held by two cherubs 'mermaids'. A large and solid handle confirms its use as a pourer. Under the base a mark of Gien, with the stamp of 1875.
