Object description :

"Ernest Louis Lessieux (1874-1938) Oléron Island + Saint-trojan Charentaise School. La Rochelle"
I am offering 2 new watercolors on the island of Oléron. - A first by Louis Ernest Lessieux which represents a coastal wood on Oléron, I think to enter Matha and La Cotinière, around 1925, signed and located at the bottom left. Size of the watercolor alone 13.5x21cm and 26x35.5cm including frame In very good condition, the marie-louise is a little old and yellowed, delivered in an old baguette. Authentic guarantee Price of this watercolor alone: €620 - a second representing a view of Saint-Trojan, signed at the bottom right, artist not identified, + marked on the back Oléron, Saint-Trojan 1952. Watercolor is in good condition, very slightly sunned. Format of the watercolor alone 17x23.5cm and 28x34.5cm including frame Price of this watercolor alone: €130 Or price for the 2 watercolors: €690 Ernest Louis Lessieux is therefore the son of Louis Ernest Lessieux 1848-1925, as well as his student and disciple, in fact Louis will follow in his father's footsteps until his death. He will live between the island of Oléron, La Rochelle and the Côte d'Azur, will regularly set up his easel in these two places, but also throughout France, in Italy and in Morocco. Louis will also be an excellent photographer, he will produce among other things portraits, nudes and of course landscapes. Today we find watercolors by Louis reproduced on a large number of almanacs or calendars because Louis will give up his rights for financial reasons. Louis, like his father Ernest, are today artists inseparable from the island of Oléron and Menton, they are the most sought-after subjects for amateurs. Louis will have as friend and student the painter and sailor Paul Enard who also lived in La Cotinière suer Oléron. There was in 2008 an important and very interesting exhibition at the museum of the island of Oléron accompanied by a very beautiful catalog, richly illustrated and documented which is today a reference.
